B&C Grade Pennants

B&C Grade

It was a very successful year for the B & C grade pennant teams.

Both Grades qualified for the finals with B Grade having 4 wins and 2 ties to qualify as 6th seed in the quarter finals.

The C grade team also finished with 4 wins and 2 halved matches to qualify as 3rd seed for the finals.

In the quarter finals both grades played Cabramatta at Bexley Golf Club. Both matches came down to the wire with the final game in the match going to the final hole. Lakeside was able to emerge victorious in both matches much to the disgust of the Cabramatta team.

The semi finals were played at Bardwell Valley. The B grade was successful in defeating Bexley 2.5-0.5 but unfortunately the C grade was defeated 2-1 with the final game decided on the 17th hole.

B Grade travelled to Bardwell Valley to take on Gordon, the number one seeds, in the final. The team battled hard all day eventually losing 2 matches on the 16th hole.

It was a fantastic year for the teams, both having gone further than any other B or C grade teams in previous years.

On behalf of both teams, I would like to thank manager Brad Godfrey and his trusty sidekick Pete Coles. They developed a good team culture that helped the success of the teams, and they only got into one or two arguments with the opposition.

More important than the pennant results was the fantastic C grade victory over the B grade in the inaugural Brian Gerrin Trophy. Both teams had a good day with C grade winning all 4 matches, with both teams coming together for a great meal after the game. Again thanks to Brad Godfrey for initiating this now annual event.
