The original Lakeside course was designed in the early 90’s by Peter Thomson in the true British links style with undulating fairways and varied ‘pot’ bunkers.
Ownership of the course and clubhouse ultimately transferred to the Wests Group of Clubs. As part of a major redevelopment of the precinct major changes to the golf course have been made to accommodate residential development. This included incorporating 4 new golf holes on idle land used as curtilage for the neighbouring Gledswood heritage homestead.
Wholesale changes were made to holes 9, 10 and 12 through 17 with the balance of holes renewed through reconstruction of all greens. The quality of the course has been enhanced by the changes made which have taken place over the last 5 years. The resultant course will have retained its original links feel. The new championship course stretches to 6488 metres and plays to a par of 72 from the tips. For the ladies, the course is a more moderate 5357 metres which also plays to a par of 72.
Large sweeping greens guarded by rolling terrain with bunkers tucked into upslopes are a major feature of the course. Beautifully presented couch fairways also mean that the course as presented is one of the best course in the Sydney region.
We aim to keep all members and guests informed of course renovations, updates or if inclement weather will affect playing potential. For more contact the Golf shop on P: (02) 4634 5838
