Lakeside Golf Club Camden has received numerous awards over the years based on our par 72 course of 6300 meters, the only course in Sydney to be designed by five times British Open Winner Peter Thomson AO CBE and his design partners, Ross Perrett and Mike Wolveridge and is a links style course, embracing a traditional golfing heritage. In 2019, Lakeside was awarded the Metropolitan Golf Club of the year by Gold NSW, recognising Clubs that display excellence in all aspects relating to the management and operations of a golfing facility, including course management, financial management, clubhouse operations and contributions to the sport of golf as well as the local community.
Lakeside Golf Club Camden, is one of the premier wedding venues in the Macarthur region and was recently awarded the Brides choice Awards 2020 including best ‘Golf Club Wedding Venue’ in Western Sydney, ‘Best wedding venue co-ordinator’ and the highly coveted ‘Best of the Best’ Brides choice awards. This is the third time in almost as many years that Lakeside has been awarded the Bride’s Choice Award for best wedding venue having taken the win 2017, 2019 and now again in 2020.
The Bride’s Choice Awards recognise those businesses that have excelled or exceeded the expectations of Brides and Grooms in the planning of their wedding. Organised by region, they ask actual married couples to vote for their preferred businesses in categories such as venue, cake, hair and makeup, bridal gowns and more.
Lakeside Golf Club Camden is committed to the highest standard of customer service, food and beverage and venue options. To this end, Lakeside has just completed a complete clubhouse and bistro refurbishment to meet the standard of the golf course views, stunning gardens, and function rooms.
Lakeside Golf Club Wins “Metropolitan Club of the Year” at 2019 NSW Golf Industry Awards
Lakeside Golf Club Camden was announced the winner at the 2019 Metropolitan Club of the Year Award at NSW Golf Industry Awards, held in the St Mary’s Pavilion at Curzon Hall on October 21, 2019. This award comes at a time when the club was enjoying huge momentum, having recently been awarded the 2019 Bride’s Choice Award for Golf Wedding Venue in the South West.
The Metropolitan Club of the Year Award recognises Clubs that display excellence in all aspects relating to the management and operations of a golfing facility, including course management, financial management, clubhouse operations and contributions to the sport of golf as well as the local community.
“We are elated with this result and could not be prouder of our team,” stated Wests Group Macarthur CEO Tony Mathew. Lakeside Golf Club Camden is a links style course offering a spectacular par 72, 18 hole course, driving range, proshops, bistro, TAB, Keno and gaming facilities and Function Centre. The Club boasts over 660 golfing members, with the majority enjoying a 7 day golfing membership.
The membership consists of a pool of golfing talent with the Major Pennants team winning the 2019 Division 3 Metropolitan Pennant, the Masters Pennant team winning their Division and a Ladies team winning the 2019 Coronation Medal.
“We are constantly looking for ways we can continue to deliver an enhanced golfing and venue experience and have recently completed a significant rebuild of a sizeable part of the course, recently upgrading six new greens and four new holes designed by the Norman Group,” added Mr Mathew.
In addition to substantial course renovations, the Club also runs ongoing community-centric golf programs such as Golf for Seniors, Business Ladies Golf, Junior Golf Development program and Golf for Girls.
In the last 12 months, Lakeside Golf Club Camden has contributed over $124,000 to the local community and sporting groups via donations of golf rounds for their fundraising events, waiving of room hire for events, and sporting and community grants.
The Club is also preparing to begin a significant extension to the clubhouse which will create an additional 180 seats, primarily for dining. “I would like to congratulate our Lakeside Team, their dedication and passion for excellence have made this award possible”, stated Mr Mathew.
Wests Group Macarthur Executive Assistant and head of Golf Operations Karen Hansen stated, “Thank you to our course maintenance team, our pro shop staff and our club house staff. This award is a reflection of the hard work that we put in every day.”
