1972

Wests Journey Begins!

Wests originated as the local Campbelltown City Kangaroos Club in 1972, a club built to support the Campbelltowns oldest Rugby League team with origins back to 1908.

1974

The original Club opens as Campbelltown City Kangaroos

The Club was officially opened as Campbelltown City League Club, with a vision of not only supporting the then Campbelltown City Kangaroos Rugby League Football Club but also to encourage community sporting events throughout the local Macarthur region.

1986

Magpies on the Move!

Club is renamed as Western Suburbs
League Club.

 

In 1986/7 the Club was socially renamed ; Western Suburbs League Club a name originating from the move of the Western Suburbs Rugby League Football Club to the Campbelltown area and the shift of Club ownership by Wests League Club Asheld.

1995

Wests Sports Council is Established

Wests, known as the Home of Sport in the local region, has been committed to encouraging sporting activities amongst children and young adults since the inception of the Wests Sports Council in 1999 (with origins in 1995)

2005

Wests Tigers Wins 2005 Premiership

2007

Amalgamation with Wests Tennis Club

Wests amalgamated with the Tennis Club in 2007 and effectively turned it into a successful operation, where members have access to multiple tennis courts, a tennis shop, function room and a popular Chinese Restaurant.

2012

Four Amazing Destinations were Born!

In 2012, Wests amalgamated with Rugby League Country Club which operated two licensed clubs, Camden Valley Golf Resort, now known as Country Club Gledswood Hills and Lakeside Golf Club Camden. Amalgamating with these clubs  solidied our commitment to sport in the local community and our position as “The Home of Sport”.

Currently, in 2020 Wests Group Macarthur is proud to hold a membership base of 78,000 + and employs over 350 sta. Wests is committed to delivering the very best in dining and entertainment facilities to our members and guests and is continuously investing in our venues and club services. Today, we offer a huge range of dining, entertainment and leisure facilities, have a strong position in the local region as a caring and generous club and have a continued focus on the game of sport in the Macarthur region and beyond. The future looks bright too, with a new venue The Greens to begin construction soon bringing to the region a new era in Golf entertainment.
