Support Our Community in Need Through Our Winter Food Appeal
Wests Group Macarthur is proud to partner with Big Yellow Umbrella this winter to support the Hamper House Program, helping local families experiencing hardship across the Macarthur region.
Big Yellow Umbrella is a non-for-profit that has been providing services to the community since 1987. years. Supporting strong and empowered communities, where people of all ages and backgrounds are supported to actively participate in community life, reducing isolation and disadvantage and improving overall quality of life. The Hamper House Program is a significant contribution to the positive outcomes to improve food security.
As temperatures drop, many families are continuing to feel the pressure of rising living costs, including increased interest rates, higher rental payments, and growing grocery expenses. In response, Big Yellow Umbrella has seen a significant increase in demand for food assistance services, with a broader range of community members now seeking support. Kim Landouw from Big Yellow Umbrella shares, “The cost of living has meant local families cannot afford fresh fruit and vegetables and we are inundated with requests for support”. The Hamper House Program plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable individuals and families by providing access to essential food and pantry items. To support this initiative, Wests Group Macarthur are calling on members and our community to donate non-perishable pantry items with a minimum six-month shelf life. Donations will help create take-home hampers for local families in need this winter.
Food donation boxes will be located in the reception areas of:
- Wests League Club
- Country Club Gledswood Hills
- Lakeside Golf Club
- Big Yellow Umbrella Head Office, Narellan
Members and our community can contribute donations until Tuesday, 30th June.
