Celebrating Community Sport
The Wests Sports Council provides various opportunities throughout the year to celebrate our local sports community including an annual award process for local athletes and sporting groups and a Sports Volunteer of the Year Awards program. These opportunities are to recognise achievement, commitment and contribution to sport. Sports Award nominations are open to members of Sporting Clubs and Individual Clubs of Associations which have been approved by the Wests Campbelltown Board for membership of the Wests Sports Council.

Local Sport Stars honoured in the 25th Annual Wests Sports Council Awards
Wests Group Macarthur was thrilled to host the Wests Sports Council 25th Annual Sports Awards at a presentation night on Monday 17th November, with each winner and runner up recognised for their outstanding contributions to grassroots sport, sporting achievements, and sporting spirit.
The Wests Sports Council supports over 30 sporting clubs and associations within the Macarthur region and provides clubs a way to recognise individual and team achievements, commitment, and contribution to local sport. The Council, now supporting more than 42,000 local sporting participants is an integral part of Wests Group Macarthur’s commitment to sport in the region and aims; “to create simple pathways for community access to affordable and well-administered sporting opportunities provided by a network of sporting clubs and associations”.
An independent voting panel judged the winners from numerous seasonal nominations across various categories, highlighting stories of great skill, achievement, and sportsmanship. The Wests Sports Council was pleased to welcome the finalists at Monday night’s presentation, with both runner-up and winner celebrated by an audience of over 180 attendees.
This feel-good evening saw guests treated with a menu of canapes and finger food, and featured interviews with Wests Sports Council Alumni, Including Lyn Deveney from Macquarie Fields Swimming club, Glenn Schwarzel from Macarthur Triathlon and Mick Flack from Wests Hockey. Guests were also entertained with performances by Comedy Magician and Illusionist Adam Dean.

WINNER Elite Sports Person of the Year – Annelise Hall, Camden & District Netball Association

Annelise has proven to be exceptional multi-sport athlete who shines in Netball, NRLW, and Basketball. She currently plays as a defender in the Camden Division 1 Metro League Netball team and was selected as a training partner for the Panthers Premier League Netball team, making her Opens debut in May 2025.
Annelise’s netball journey began with the Campbelltown junior representative program, and at just 15 years old, she was selected for both the NSW CCC and NSW All Schools Netball Teams.
From 2021 to 2023, Annelise was part of the South West Sydney Academy of Sport Netball Program. Her versatility extends to indoor netball, where she represented NSW in 2023 and 2024 in the mixed teams, earning selection in the Australian Indoor Netball Team both years.
Annelise represented Camden Netball Association in the Metro League during 2023 and 2024, competing in the U17s State Titles, and was identified by selectors in the 2023 Talent ID Program.
In 2024, Annelise signed with Excel Sports Management, further cementing her status as one of the region’s most promising young athletes.
WINNER Elite Sports Team of the Year – Women’s First Grade Team, Campbelltown Camden District Cricket Club

The Women’s First Grade Team, Campbelltown Camden District Cricket Club were crowed NSW Women’s First grade Premier Cricket T20 Champions, losing only one game all season, and NSW Women’s First Grade Premier Cricket One Day Runners Up, it’s a truly great achievement for all involved.
Team members: The team featured Australian players Sarah Coyte, Lauren Cheatle, State player Claire Koski and England U19 representatives Hannah Baker and Charis Pavely. It also included a number of state pathways players including Kelly Rowlings, Keisha Baldwin, Lily Hreszczuk, Alexandra, Aurora and Sophia Mavros
WINNER Junior Sportsperson of the Year (U12) – Adam Jones, Eschol Park Little Athletics
Runner Up: Junior Sportsperson of the Year (U12) – Luka Tuaoi, Oran Park Rovers Football Club, Macarthur Football Association.
WINNER Youth Sportsperson of the Year (12 – 16yrs) – Cooper Hoomans, Campbelltown Ghosts Baseball Club
Runner Up: Youth Sportsperson of the Year (12 – 16yrs)- Riley Breckon, Eschol Park Little Athletics Club
WINNER Senior Sportsperson of the Year – Glassie Glassie, Campbelltown Harlequin Rugby Club
Runner Up: Senior Sportsperson of the Year – Charlie Gray, Macquarie Fields Swimming Club

It’s a privilege to recognise the local talent achieving remarkable results, and Wests Group Macarthur appreciates the commitment of clubs and associations who put forward such outstanding nominations and join us each year to celebrate”.
In addition to the sports awards program, Wests Group Macarthur also provides a substantial amount of funding each year towards the ongoing success of each member club and association VIA ClubGRANTS, Community engagement activities and other awards programs such as Volunteer of the Year Awards.
